Quick green tip

This is a fantastic idea and one that will help to eliminate plastic water bottle lids from sitting in landfills for thousands of years.

How many times have you grappled with rubber bands that are tied too tightly around a plastic packet? Or resorted to tearing open a plastic bag because the knot is too tight? Which means you can’t use the plastic bag again and makes a huge mess.

Try this very clever tip for sealing a bag and making it air-tight.

Cut off the neck and top of a plastic water bottle

Insert the plastic bag through the neck and screw the top – to seal

Don’t forget to recycle the left-over part of the bottle.

  1. Bottle tops are a huge problem if they end up in oceans. Birds often mistake them for food and they have been known to fill up a belly, resulting in illness and death. see: http://earthfirst.com/shocking-photos-bird-bodies-full-of-plastic/
So, good tip for helping keep more plastic bottle caps out of the natural environment. Better yet to not have any in the first place!

  2. I think we’ll stick to putting all possible plastic waste into recycling. What we couldn’t avoid in the first place that is ;¬)
