Project 90 hosted a training session for staff from Catholic Welfare and Development (CWD). CWD strives to eradicate poverty through service, caring and accountability. They run 9 development centres around Cape Town and the Western Cape, and it was the managers of these centres that attended the training.
The training consisted of an introduction to climate change, possible actions participants could take and input into CWDs climate change policy. The centre managers are part of CWDs Climate Change Commission, and are tasked with coming up with an organisational policy for CWD which will contribute to CWDs response to climate change. As well as an introduction to climate science and international and national climate change policy, the training also looked at practical actions the centres and the managers themselves could take, and working examples of renewable energy generation. By the end of the training, the participants had a roadmap drawn out for CWDs climate change policy.
Project 90 runs tailored trainings for a variety of organisations, and can also help organisations in their response to climate change. Our work engages individuals in the organisation and works with their realities to inspire and bring about action. For more information please contact Glen Tyler glen@90×2030.org.za 021 674 5094/5.
